Courage is the New Currency: A Special Conversation with Skye Perryman, President & CEO of Democracy Forward

We are experiencing the greatest threats to our democratic institutions and the rule of law in our lifetimes.  Courts are seen as the last line of defense in protecting our democratic society.  Under Skye Perryman’s leadership, Democracy Forward has brought more than 100 legal actions and 150 investigations since January 2025 and has quickly become a frontline defense against abuses of power at every level of government, and has won significant nationwide court orders, protecting people from the administration’s harmful actions, winning before a diverse mix of judges appointed by presidents from all parties.  Democracy Forward’s mission is rooted in the fundamental principle that power lies in the people – power to exercise their rights, protect their communities, and hold the government accountable by initiating litigation when their rights are violated.
