About the event
This webinar is part of the Task Force for American Democracy’s special Focus on Elections series.
In the run-up to the 2026 midterms, the Task Force is conducting a special series of programs with a focus on elections and voting. For our second program in the series, we will be joined by Task Force member Richard Haass to discuss lessons to be learned from other countries that have fought back against authoritarian forces and how these tactics might be employed in the U.S. He will also discuss his book, The Bill of Obligations: The Ten Habits of Good Citizens, where he argues that protecting American democracy requires shifting focus from rights to responsibilities. He outlines ten habits—including being informed, involved, civil, and compromising—to bridge political divides, promote the common good, and combat apathy, ensuring a functioning, representative government.
