This webinar is part of the Task Force for American Democracy’s special Focus on Elections series.
In the run-up to the 2026 midterms, the Task Force is conducting a special series of programs with a focus on elections and voting. For our first program in the series, we will explore a case currently pending at the U.S. Supreme Court, RNC v. Watson, that could impact the voting rights of millions of Americans. Many states have “grace period” laws that allow at least some voters’ mail ballots to count when they are sent by Election Day and arrive within a few days after Election Day. In 2024, a federal appeals court ruled that century-old federal laws setting a “day for the election” prohibit states’ mail ballot grace periods.
