About the event
During 2025, there have been a dizzying amount of threats to many of the foundations in the Constitution and the rule of law. There have been broad extensions of executive power, use of the military on domestic soil, erosion of due process protections, and attacks on free speech and the media. While an "end-of-year" constitutional wrap-up is still being written, several key developments from 2025 will be summarized, including a slew of executive orders from the new presidential administration and major Supreme Court rulings during its 2024-2025 term. These events have tested the limits of executive authority, shaped policy on contested social issues, and influenced the balance of power between federal and state governments. This panel will discuss these developments, the current state of the law, and the forecast for our constitutional system.
