About the event

Join us for a special Veteran’s Day webinar where we will discuss the pressing issues regarding the military, from the firing of the top military lawyers called JAGs earlier this year to the use of the military on U.S. soil. Can our troops be used to quell demonstrations in the United States? We will look at the Constitution, especially the 10th Amendment, the Insurrection Act of 1807, and the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878. The military has been used domestically to safeguard civil rights marchers, intervene when requested by governors during violent riots, stop the Bonus March on Washington in 1932, and to imprison Japanese American civilians during World War II. But is the use of the military and National Guard appropriate today in cities such as Washington, D.C., Portland, and Chicago? This is not-to-be-missed webinar on one of the most pressing issues of the day.
