Sherrilyn Ifill is the Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., Esq. Endowed Chair in Civil Rights at Howard University, and is currently the Klinsky Visiting Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School. Ifill served as the seventh President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF) from 2013 to 2022, and currently serves as President and Director-Counsel Emeritus. Ms. Ifill began her career as a Fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union, before joining the staff of the LDF as an Assistant Counsel in 1988, where she litigated voting rights cases for five years. In 1993, Ms. Ifill left LDF to join the faculty at University of Maryland School of Law where she taught civil procedure and constitutional law for over 20 years to thousands of law students and pioneered several innovative civil rights clinics. Ifill served on President Biden’s Commission on the Supreme Court, and served on the ABA Task Force on Law, Society & Justice.
